I divide visitor traffic into three groups;

High-Value

Immediate value.

  • People who want your product / service, and are willing and able to become a customer

Medium-Value

Has potential value, but not immediately.

  • People who might later want your product/service, but not today
  • People who like your product/service, and may influence/inform other people to become your customers

Low-Value

Looks good on your traffic reports, but otherwise doesn't generate much value unless you are an ad-supported site.

  • People who stumbled across your site by accident, but have no interest in your product or service
  • People who want your product/service but are not geographically able to become a client
  • People who want your product/service, but for other reasons [ financial, perhaps ] are not the right target customer for you
