Webflow's Bandwidth limits are strict, and getting your site fully bandwidth-optimized can be difficult.

Some of the key problems designers face...

• The bandwidth reports are very useful, but identifying where the problem assets are being used in your site is very difficult.
• Finding those assets in the assets panel or CMS is also difficult which makes them difficult to replace.
• Webflow has built-in optimization tools to convert your image assets, they can struggle to process "very large" images, have no reporting, and can fail without explanation.
• Non-image assets like background videos, PDFs, SVGs, Lotties, Rives, and Splines cannot be bandwidth-optimized, but there are no in-built tools for off-hosting these and it must be handled manually.

How we Optimize

Sygnal uses a combination of asset-optimization and off-hosting techniques to significantly reduce your Webflow bandwidth requirements.

How significant? On an un-optimized site with homepage background video, we usually see a 60% to 80% reduction in bandwidth use. One client site was running at 2.4 TB/mo and we were able to reduce it to 400 GB/mo.

Video Assets

Background videos are typically the most significant bandwidth consumer especially when they are on the homepage. They need not be large... the bytes add up quickly.

We can re-host videos on an external platform, depending on the specific needs and admin processes for your site.

Image Assets

Sygnal has invested in the development of tools and techniques that;

• Allow us to optimize all of your assets to AVIF.
• Allow us to optimize CMS assets, which are the most problematic to reach due to the current tool design.

PDFs, SVGs, Lotties and Other Assets

These can be hosted externally as well.

Custom Fonts

If you're making heavy use of large custom fonts, there are certain things we can do to off-host that as well.

Webflow.js

In particular Webflow's Lotties and Rive animations features are quite costly in terms of their impact on the size of webflow.js. This can have a substantial impact to your bandwidth- and there may be a better approach.

Likewise, Interactions can be quite expensive as well.

This work is billed by the hour, and it will depend on the size and complexity of your site.

We break this into two parts;

Initial audit - $100

We'll do an examination of your site and bandwidth reports to determine exactly where the bandwidth issues are in your project, and how to approach your situation.

Along with our evaluation, you'll have an estimate of cost if you want us to complete those changes for you.

Full optimization

For simpler sites, you can expect roughly $300.

For more complex sites with a lot of background video, ballpark is generally $600 - $1,000 of work, depending.
