Sygnal QuickNav

A Chrome extension that provides instant navigation to your frequently-used URLs using customizable shortcodes managed in a Google Spreadsheet.

What It Does

Today's teams operate in a world of URLs, where every project might have a dozen links that you need to access frequently through the day. Webflow, Figma, Jira, Timesheets, GDrive... the list goes on.

QuickNav turns your browser's address bar into a powerful navigation tool. Type q followed by your shortcodes, and instantly jump to any URL you've configured in your spreadsheet.

For example:

  • q acme dashboard → Navigate to Acme project dashboard
  • q acme api docs → Jump to Acme API documentation
  • q reports q1 → Open Q1 reports

How It Works

  1. Configure your spreadsheet: Store your navigation shortcuts in a Google Sheet with columns for:
    • Project name (e.g., "acme")
    • Service name (e.g., "dashboard")
    • Facet (optional, e.g., "admin")
    • Target URL
  2. Set up the extension: Add your Google Sheets URL in the extension options
  3. Navigate instantly: Type q in your address bar, followed by your shortcodes (space-separated)

The extension fetches your spreadsheet data, matches your shortcodes against the configured entries, and redirects you to the corresponding URL. If no match is found, it opens your spreadsheet so you can add the missing entry.

Recommended Use Cases

QuickNav is all about quick access to the things you use most often. We recommend a simple easy to remember shortcode setup.

Examples;

  • acme ts - open the timesheet URL for ACME company
  • acme ts mary - open Mary's ACME timesheet
  • acme wfw - open the Webflow Workspace folder for ACME
  • acme wf - open the Webflow designer for ACME
  • acme jira - open ACME's Jira
  • acme jira newsite - open the New Site project in ACME's Jira
  • kovo figma - open the Figma for your Kovo project
  • svm gd - open the Google drive folder for your client Silicon Valley Medical Center.
Short and simple are key to help you remember key names. However if your query does not match anything, QuickNav will automatically open the spreadsheet so that you can see the list, and add new ones ( if your Google account has edit permissions ).

Who It's For

QuickNav is for anyone, from freelancers to large agencies- but the sweetspot is small teams who have a long list of clients and URLs that they are frequently hopping between.

  • It keeps everything central - never forget that link again
  • Easily add new links, and control who has edit permissions
  • Simple security. Since the URLs are to secure services like Webflow, Google Drive and Jira your team can only access what they have actually been granted access to.
  • Team members can be anywhere. As long as they're all configured to use the same spreadsheet, they'll have the same current list of shortcodes

Setup

  1. Load the extension in Chrome:
    • Go to chrome://extensions
    • Enable "Developer mode"
    • Click "Load unpacked"
    • Select the extension directory
  2. Configure your Google Sheet:
    • Create a spreadsheet with columns: Project | Service | Facet | URL, or make a copy of our example sheet.
    • Add your navigation shortcuts
      • TIP: Use shortcodes that are easy to remember. For project, we often use client name. For service, it's typically wfw for Webflow Workspace, wf for a project's designer view, ts for Timesheets, gd for Google Drive folders and so on.
    • Make sure the sheet is publicly accessible (share to "anyone with the link")
  3. Set your spreadsheet URL:
    • Right-click the QuickNav extension icon
    • Select "Options"
    • Paste your Google Sheets URL
    • Click "Save"

Usage

  1. Click in your browser's address bar (or press Ctrl+L / Cmd+L)
  2. Type q and press Space or Tab
  3. Enter your shortcodes (e.g., projectname service facet)
  4. Press Enter

The extension will navigate to the matching URL from your spreadsheet.

Features

  • Fast navigation: No bookmarks or typing full URLs
  • Centralized management: Update shortcuts in one spreadsheet
  • Flexible matching: Match by project + service, or add an optional facet
  • Fallback to source: If no match found, opens your spreadsheet to add it
  • Error handling: Clear error messages guide you through configuration issues

Errors

Missing Configuration

There is no URL configured.

  1. Locate the rocket icon in your browser extensions.
  2. Right click it or click the 3 dots to access the menu
  3. Choose Options.
  4. Paste in the URL of your Google Spreadsheet.

Configured URL is not a Google Spreadsheet

QuickNav currently only works with Google Spreadsheet URLs as the datasource.

Spreadsheet URL is Invalid

Check your Spreadsheet URL, something appears wrong.

Unable to Fetch Spreadsheet

Typically this means that you haven't made the spreadsheet accessible- share it to Anyone with the Link, and QuickNav will be able to access the CSV version.
